A sudden breakdown of equipment in your home can be inconvenient and expensive. Acuity offers this endorsement for homeowners and condo-unit owners policies to help prepare for those unexpected situations.


What does the mechanical breakdown endorsement cover?

The repair or replacement of a household appliance that is damaged due to a sudden and accidental mechanical or electrical failure, or bursting, cracking, or splitting.

 

Examples of household appliance include:

  • Air conditioner

  • Furnace

  • Security system
  • Washer and dryer
  • Refrigerator
  • Water heater
  • Vacuum system
  • Generator
  • Television

 

This endorsement does not cover breakdown due to wear and tear nor is it a service agreement or warranty.

 

How much coverage can I get?

Coverage is available with a $50,000 limit, subject to a $5,000 limit for each piece of equipment over 15 years old. A $500 deductible applies.
