Specialized Coverages

Acuity provides protection for most of your business insurance needs with our general liability, property, businessowners, workers’ compensation, commercial auto, inland marine, excess liabilty, and cyber liability coverages. However, Acuity understands that all contractors are different. The following optional coverages are specifically tailored to contractors. Knowing you have coverage for your unique business needs will give you peace of mind so you can focus on your business.

Property in the course of construction

You never have to decide if you need installation coverage or builders’ risk coverage because Acuity’s unique property in the course of construction includes both coverages in one. This coverage is unique to Acuity and is designed to protect you whether you are building a commercial structure or installing new fixtures in a kitchen.

Contractors’ equipment

Your equipment is your livelihood. Contractors’ equipment insurance provides protection for equipment, small tools, employees’ tools, and borrowed equipment when you are on the job. You can also add business income coverage, which protects you against income you may lose resulting from damaged or lost equipment

Contractors’ errors and omissions

Even the most seasoned veterans can make mistakes. Instead of being legally responsible for damage, we will pay for the work that you have done incorrectly. Ensure your reputation stays intact by protecting yourself with this valuable coverage.

Additional insured

A contractor or owner of a project may request to be added to your policy as an additional insured. Acuity offers an extensive portfolio of additional insured endorsements to meet the requests of the contracts you sign.

Voluntary property damage

Accidents can happen! Voluntary property damage insurance covers you for accidental damage you may cause to a customer's property you're not working on, but that was left in your care or control at a job or work site.

Installation

Installation coverage focuses on smaller jobs such as remodeling projects. It also pays for materials at your construction site as well as in transit.

Builders’ risk

Builders’ risk is easy to understand. It protects the buildings you have under construction and it pays for materials at your construction site or in transit.

We see you as a partner.

The trucking industry often faces periods of heightened demand, whether it’s during a surge in consumer spending, a busy shipping season, or a time-sensitive project deadline. FAQs

Have questions? We have answers.

Our standard coverages will meet most of your business needs. Optional coverages tailor your policy to your unique business. Work with your agent to see what optional coverages are right for you.

We understand contractors and realize many have a need for all the coverages in a businessowners policy except property coverage. This is why we created a special no-property businessowners policy for contractors.

Most carriers offer a general liability policy with a limit that is the most they will pay through the policy period no matter how many projects or locations you’ve been working at. Acuity extends this limit to automatically apply separately to each of your projects for no additional charge.

A contractor or owner may request that you add a waiver of subrogation to your policy. A waiver of subrogation prohibits the insurer from collecting payment from parties responsible for damages to you, when you have agreed in writing to waive our right to collect those payments.
