As we continue to adjust to the new normal, many of us aren’t quite ready for a traditional family vacation, but we still need time to disconnect and recharge. What better way to enjoy time with family than a staycation. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  1. Technology Disconnect: Leave all the electronics indoors and take time to step outside as a family. Your staycation doesn’t have to mean you don’t leave your yard; it could mean a day trip to a local state park. If you leave home, take one phone with in case of emergency, but leave it tucked away.
  2. Treasure Hunt: Take turns hiding treasures and finding them. Whether you divide into teams or compete individually, this could be a fun way to explore your neighborhood!
  3. Astrology Night: What could be more relaxing than gazing up into the clear sky on a summer night! Take the time to make it a bit educational and look for constellations and other prominent stars. Research ahead of time and you might be able to pick a night when a distant planet is visible. You can even consider using a constellation app to help you find the stars.
  4. Camping: We can’t go without mentioning the classic backyard camping adventure. Set up a tent, have a bonfire, cook campfire snacks, tell stories, and make amazing memories.

Vacation doesn’t have to mean long distance travel, hotels, and expenses; there are opportunities to create memories around us every day!
