When we talk about being sure trailers are covered, we’re not talking about open or enclosed designs—we’re talking about insurance! Contractors use several types of trailers to move their tools and equipment to and from job sites, and it’s important to understand the coverages available for trailers in the event they are damaged or stolen.

Physical damage coverage for trailers is generally excluded under business personal property coverage. Trailers would typically be covered under a commercial auto policy for liability, and comprehensive and collision losses up to the actual cash value of the trailer.

However, physical damage coverage can also be provided under a contractor’s equipment endorsement either for a scheduled amount or under a set per-item limit under an unscheduled limit.

No matter how you want to insure your contracting clients’ trailers, Acuity has you covered!
