Specialized coverages

Acuity is a highly rated commercial insurer providing many coverages that an office business may need including general liability, property, workers’ compensation, business owners, cyber liability, and crime. We understand each risk is unique, and we work to tailor our coverage to those unique situations – giving you peace of mind so you can focus on your business.

Employee-related practices liability

Defending your business against claims relating to employment processes can be very costly.  Unfortunately, when you have employees, situations may arise in which you need to defend yourself against claims such as wrongful termination, discrimination, or sexual harassment.  Acuity offers coverages to help you defend yourself when these situations come up.

Ordinance or law

A claim causing damage to your building is bad enough. Adding insult to injury, your building could be found inadequate according to current city, state, or federal ordinances when it’s time to rebuild. The standard property form does not cover increased construction costs to bring the building up to current code. Adding ordinance or law coverage can pay for these extra charges.

Employee benefit liability

As an employer, you know offering your employees benefits such as health, dental, and life insurance is important to attracting good employees. Sometimes mistakes can happen when administering these benefits, such as failure to add an employee to the plan at the correct time. This can come back to hurt your business. Let Acuity’s coverage protect you from these potentially costly errors.

Equipment breakdown coverage

From air conditioning to computers, you rely on your equipment to keep your office business running smoothly. Let us make sure you’re covered if it breaks down. This coverage will not only pay for loss to your equipment, but also the loss of income you may experience when your equipment isn’t working properly.

Employee dishonesty

As an employer, you try your best to hire good people.  However, there is always the chance one of your employees is facing a difficult situation and can not resist temptation.  This coverage protects you against loss from dishonest acts committed by an employee.

FAQs

Have questions? We have answers.

Yes! Computer attacks are becoming more common everyday, and the laws around this topic are constantly changing.  Acuity offers cyber liability to assist your business in restoring data, covering the loss of business due to an attack, and paying for public relations services to help you communicate an attack to your customers.

Most benefit plans have a period of time during which an employee can be added to a plan based on the date of new hire. There may also be an open enrollment time every year.  If you are in the midst of running your business and forget to submit the appropriate paperwork, your employee may assume he or she is covered.  Any claims that occur after the intended effective date would not be covered.  Acuity’s employee benefits liability can cover the costs that occur based on these errors.

If your office uses equipment such as computers and phones, you are at risk. Power can go out and cause damage to your office equipment. You may have to replace equipment or even shut down the office for a time. With equipment breakdown coverage,  Acuity would cover the loss of income to your business.
