In developing its list, Forbes asked more than 50,000 people working for U.S. companies employing at least 1,000 people to rate their willingness to recommend those companies. Employees who took part in the survey were not contacted through their employers but, rather, did so through online panels that provided a representative sample of the U.S. workforce.
