Acuity Announces Scholarship Winners

Since the inception of the company’s scholarship program, Acuity has awarded over $350,000 to children of employees based on academic excellence, leadership, community service, and goals and aspirations. The program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, an independent service that helps organizations nationwide create and manage education assistance programs.

 

John Signer Scholarship

With the memory of John Signer’s remarkable work in promoting educational and training opportunities, Acuity is proud to announce that Krista Kretschmann, daughter of Debbie Veldboom, General Manager - Services, is awarded the $5,000 John Signer Scholarship. Krista is a junior at Lakeland College, where she has been named an Outstanding Underclassman in Business Administration by her professors.

 

Acuity Scholarships

John Benishek, son of Brian Benishek, General Manager - Sales, is a senior at Marquette University, where he is studying electrical engineering. A recent participant in the 2015 SAE Aero Design East Competition, John enjoys playing soccer in his spare time. He is highly interested in electronics engineering as well as avionics and aerospace. John is looking forward to graduating in December of 2016.

 

Maddison Braun, daughter of Tom Braun, Manager - Information Systems, has recently graduated with magna cum laude honors from UW-Manitowoc with an associate of arts & science degree. She was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and named to the Dean’s List each semester between 2013 and 2015. A donor and volunteer of the BloodCenter, Maddison is looking forward to continuing her education at UW-Oshkosh, where she plans to study accounting.

 

Kirsten Brooks, daughter of Amy Brooks, Systems Architect, is eager to begin her college career at UW-Madison, where she plans to study criminal justice. While attending Sheboygan North High School, she achieved high honor roll for seven semesters, served as the President of Key Club, and participated in the Environmental Club. Kirsten shared her musical talents in her school’s Dancers Among Us production, playing the orchestra violin. She enjoys volunteering at the Sheboygan County Humane Society.

 

Nicole Fenner, daughter of Debbie Fenner, Electronic Print Assistant, is a junior at Cardinal Stritch University, where she is studying early childhood education. Nicole is proud to have been named to the Dean's List and to have received the CCAC All-Academic Team honor while playing college basketball on campus. Nicole enjoys volunteering her time in events such as the Light the Night walk and ALS walk.

 

Tyler Hartmann, son of Sue Hartmann, Senior Business Analyst, is studying sociology and human development and family studies at UW-Madison. Tyler has been on the Dean’s List each semester as a junior at the university. He is involved in Badger Cru, where he often leads Bible studies. Tyler is an active member of the Force 4 Freedom, in addition to serving as a mentor with the Big Brothers & Big Sisters program. He is proud to have been a camp counselor at Camp Timberline, a Christian summer camp located in Colorado. Tyler enjoys playing intramural football and basketball in his spare time.

 

Joshua Kasuboski, son of Kristen Kasuboski, Analyst I - Regulatory Affairs, is a senior at UW-Madison, where he is studying computer engineering. In preparation for his graduation next year, Joshua has completed several internships. He works as a software engineering intern during the school year and had a summer internship in Austin, Texas. Joshua is a proud member of the Shared Governance Committee on campus, which he helped found.

 

Katelyn Kautzer, daughter of John Kautzer, General Manager - Sales, is a sophomore at UW-La Crosse, where she is studying psychology. She made the Dean’s List each semester of her freshman year. With music being such a huge part of her life, Katelyn enjoys performing in a local jazz group

 

called La Capella. While at school, she takes advantage of hiking the bluffs and playing intramural sports with her friends.

 

Matthew Matysik, son of Chris Matysik, General Manager - Regulatory Affairs, is eager to begin his college career at UW-Stout, where he plans to study hospitality. While attending Sheboygan South High School, Matthew was part of the National Honor Society and received several scholarships. He was involved in forensics and theater, and also participated in the Relay for Life. Matthew’s interests include trains, aviation, and architecture.

 

Brett Pokrzywinski, son of Tina Pokrzywinski, General Manager - Information Systems, is a sophomore at UW-Madison, studying civil engineering. As a member of the National Honor Society, Brett graduated from high school with high honors and continued his academic success in college, making the Dean’s List. He works at Festival Foods and Sunset Hills golf course. Brett loves playing intramural soccer and enjoys golfing, hunting, and fishing.

 

Kiley Sabin, daughter of Scott Sabin, Senior Claims Representative, is a sophomore at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where she is studying architecture. As a member of the university’s track and field team, Kiley has qualified for the track and field junior nationals. Kiley has been named to her school’s Dean’s List.

 

Rachel Smith, daughter of Nathan Smith, Manager – Commercial Underwriting, is a junior at UW-La Crosse, where she is studying biology. Rachel is the Vice President of the women’s club soccer team on campus. A graduate of Sheboygan South High, Rachel has made the Dean’s List several times.
