Tips to Keep The Critters Out

Homes can be attractive targets for pesky critters like mice. This can be a problem any time of year, but there is often an uptick when temperatures drop and they begin looking for somewhere warm. Here are some tips you can use to keep your home free of vermin and other pests.

  1. Spray the perimeter of your home outside to help repel unwanted visitors.
  2. Make sure there are no holes or other easy entry points in your walls. A common area of weakness is where ventilation or exhaust pipes exit the home. Be sure the spaces are appropriately caulked and sealed.
  3. Use moth balls or other scents like peppermint oil, hot sauce, tea tree oil, cloves, and dryer sheets as deterrents. These can be used around the house or even in vehicles that might be in storage.
  4. Set traps to catch anything that may already be in the house or yard.
  5. Properly store food in airtight containers. Don’t forget about bird seed and other items in the garage that might be attractive sources of nesting or food.

Of course, the easiest method is to prevent them from getting in in the first place. Use these tips to help keep your home free of vermin all year!
