Acuity Insurance announced that the 2019 Acuity Health Challenge raised more than $15,000 to help advance behavioral health and wellness initiatives in the community.

In its eighth year, the Acuity Health Challenge featured a 5K or 2-mile run/walk. Over 650 participants took part in this year’s event, which included donation sleep-in and virtual race alternatives. For the first time this year, the entire Acuity Health Challenge course was held on Acuity’s headquarters’ campus at 2800 South Taylor Drive in Sheboygan.

Proceeds from the 2019 Challenge will support the Aurora Behavioral Health & Wellness center’s efforts, including mental health as well as alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA) treatment. To extend the continuum of care, Aurora Health Care will be adding outpatient programming focused on adolescent and adult mental health as well as alcohol and drug addiction services in a therapeutic group setting.

“The Acuity Health Challenge reflects our commitment to wellness and our support for the well-being of the entire community,” said Ben Salzmann, President and CEO, Acuity.

Overall winners were, in the men’s division, Aaron Viet’s with a time of 16:23 and, in the women’s division, Sara Hess with a time of 22:00. The Health Challenge also included the Acuity Health Village, which featured vendors who volunteered their time to promote various aspects of health, wellness, and safety. Participants received a well-stocked goodie bag and a custom race day T-shirt.
